Geek Burn or should I say … BAZINGA! - Taken from collegehumor.com picture gallery.
Okay, here is the full length video of the swagger wagon … sorry, first link was just a teaser.
Current front runner for our next vehicle. I’d be lying if I said this video had nothing to do with that decision :)
I am a strong believer in opportunities and I feel there are a lot of positives that could come from the Hoonah’s Heros project. To have an accomplished independent film maker come to Hoonah and create a documentary of those that served during Vietnam would be tremendous opportunity to have a part of Hoonah’s History documented in film.
My personal belief is that a project like this would provide an additional sense of pride to an already prideful community. Internally, within the community, it may serve as an educational tool for those unfamiliar with these stories.
As tourism builds, this project may be the right catalyst to draw more interest into the Icy Strait Point stop. What I’ve heard since the inception of Icy Strait Point is that it isn’t your normal tourist stop and one of the main attractions is not the scenery, the wildlife, or the zip line but the people. The stories they hear are from the people that lived them and not from a temporary College student who is reciting a script. This would provide an additional stories for people to share.
Based of the film makers plans (see excerpt below), I think it could be a great opportunity for someone in the community that may have an interest in the film making process to get first hand experience. Would love to see someone be inspired by this project and to seek further education and experience in this field so that he/she can comeback to the community and help document more of these wonderful untold stories.
Here is an excerpt from her kickstarter.com page:
WHAT’S MY PLAN?
The most important thing right now is to get honest stories from the veterans. My plan is to go to Hoonah, Alaska for a month this August. I will have a small crew - just one or two people. I will interview about ten men and their loved ones and bring this untold American story to life.WHAT’S UP WITH THE FIFTEEN GRAND?
1. Expenses for myself, a technical assistant and an additional assistant (hired locally in Hoonah) for the one-month shoot.
2. Crew airfare from NY to AK
3. Renting of equipment - camera, lights, sound, P2 cards and other misc. equipment.
4. Several external hard drives and possibly a computer for downloading purposes if I can’t borrow one from a buddy.
In order to see this project get underway, the film maker is seeking assistance in kick starting the project. There is less than a month for the kickstarter.com deadline. If you have $15 dollars to spare, I would encourage some locals to contribute and state that they are a local. Seeing a surge of locals contributing may inspire others to contribute to the project, knowing that there is local support for the project.
By no means do I want people to blindly support this project. Take time to view the video explaining the project and her reasoning behind it. Ask around and talk to people that have talked to her to see if this seems like a positive project for the community and make your decision from there.
I’ll admit that I need to do a little more research and I would like to check out her first documentary, LEFT LANE, to check out her style of film making. If you made it this far, congratulations and thanks for taking the time to read my opinion concerning this project.
Nicholas Carlson - Article on CNN discussing paying for facebook.
The quote addresses the reason why the rumors start about paying for Facebook. “Facebook users feel like they’re getting something valuable for free, and everybody knows there’s no such thing as a free lunch.”
Please contribute if you can, this is a great project with a lot of potential. Although I do not know the film maker, I was impressed with her video explaining the project.
I would love to establish contact to better understand her motivation behind the project so that as a former resident (but a lifetime community member), I would feel comfortable endorsing her efforts.
From the pictures and comments, it looks like she has interacted with members of the community and her efforts seem genuine. Take a peek at her video and judge for yourself.
If you’ve never failed … you’ve never lived.
What do you get when you mix Pop with Metal with Polka … a kick @#$ song.

Lately I’ve enjoyed people posting version of songs played in a different style. I think I posted the Enter Sandman Smooth Jazz edition along with the You Belong with Me (Taylor Swift) - Metal version. Here is another one:
Enter Sandman- the Swing Version by plamere
There is a section that doesn’t sound right(right after the solo) but overall I kind of like this version :D
